While attending NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Lupita specialized in US and Mexico border relations and their effects on Immigrant and later-generation families. As part of her research, Lupita wrote and edited her own novella, (which has potential for a trilogy in the YA genre). In 2022, Lupita completed an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies.
